    The Pedagogy of National and Foreign Languages Career has held the III International Congress with important speakers from national and foreign universities. Language learning, in our field with a preference for English, is an important element of professional development in an increasingly global and interactive world. Esmeraldas has the challenge of improving its educational quality and the teaching-learning processes of the English language. It needs good teachers who make language learning more attractive and motivating. The province, with an important tourist projection, needs bilingual professionals in all sectors to continue being an efficiently welcoming space. It is a challenge for PUCESE to improve the skills of language teachers to create opportunities for students and professionals in the province. The Pedagogy of National and Foreign Languages Career, before the Applied Linguistics degree, has graduated professionals who are in other parts of the world doing master's degrees and doctorates. It is making an important contribution to improving the teaching of English with the bachelor's degree, the master's degree, and the congresses like this one, which puts PUCESE and Esmeraldas in the world, especially important when teaching has undergone a substantial change due to the Covid19 pandemic. We congratulate the efforts of the teachers of this career, the International Scientific Committee that has ensured the quality of the papers, and the participation of teachers from various universities in this congress. The thematic axes have addressed the importance of innovative methodologies and strategies, the use of technology and attention to diversity in the English class. This event has made a truly significant contribution to the development of the province of Esmeraldas.

    Webinar Nuestro Diseño: comunicación digital en tiempos de COVID-19

    “Nuestro Diseño” se originó como un evento académico para la difusión de los proyectos desarrollados por los estudiantes de la carrera de diseño gráfico de la PUCESE, cumpliendo dos funciones específicas: evaluar el trabajo de los estudiantes al final del semestre y visibilizar las competencias adquiridas en las materias cursadas. Durante el período correspondiente al 2019(I) se presentó la última edición de “Nuestro Diseño” en formato de exposición. Todo proceso debe cumplir un ciclo y en este sentido el equipo académico de la carrera de diseño gráfico estimó que el evento debería evolucionar hacia una actividad más orientada a la investigación e intercambio de conocimientos mediante la participación de expertos y profesionales afines al ejercicio profesional del diseño y a comunicación visual. Hasta la presentación de esta memoria, el mundo está viviendo una situación compleja caracterizada por el confinamiento y el distanciamiento social, lo que ha generado la implementación de espacios de intercambio alternativos mediante el uso de herramientas tecnológicas, para intentar en la medida de las posibilidades, seguir con lo que actualmente se denomina como “nueva normalidad”, incluidos los procesos formativos. En este punto se presentó como alternativa de presentación el formato de Webinar, que se define como un seminario por web. Es así como “Nuestro Diseño” se adaptó a la coyuntura y desarrolló su primer webinar bajo la temática: “Comunicación digital en tiempos de COVID-19”. El webinar se estructuró para realizarse durante dos días, en jornada matutina, es decir los días 18 y 19 de febrero del año 2021 desde las 09h00 hasta las 13h00. Se contó con la participación de 8 ponentes que abordaron diversos tópicos a partir de la temática antes mencionada y que se detalla en el siguiente apartado.
