Item Open Access Exportación de artesanías elaboradas en caña guadua y bambú de la microempresa artesanías López de Otavalo hacia el mercado Madrid - España(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador Sede Ibarra, 2018-09) Morán Maigua, María Martha CeciliaA large part of the inhabitants of the Otavalo canton are dedicated to the elaboration of different handicrafts that highlight the creativity and skill of the artisan, using mainly raw material in an environmentally friendly way, whose products are marketed in the Centennial Market of Otavalo canton, commonly known as Plaza de Ponchos. One of the biggest problems that was detected when carrying out the research is the ignorance about the export processes by the artisans, including the way to reach international markets and the benefits it could have; Therefore, this research project aims to become a guide or source of consultation for the artisan to make the decision to make exports directly from the micro-enterprise López Handicrafts, to handicraft distributors in the Spanish market; to improve profitability, becoming a generator of economical incomes for their families. It is important to enclose that the bamboo incense holders made by Mr. López present a higher or greater level of quality that distinguishes them from the competition, even being a highlighted factor by the rest of local producers. Thanks to the unique techniques and applied knowledge in the production processes, they allow the artisans to obtain a final item of lower weight, which are accompanied by high creativity in designs and figures complemented with colors. Due to the characteristics that presents the elaborated product by Mr. López, he can access to the programs of Public Institutions such as PRO ECUADOR, to participate in the different international fairs in order to obtain new clients from foreign markets, in addition he can access the benefits that the Export Easy program offers to the artisan in order to increase exports and insert them into new markets making shipments to any country in a safe and agile way. Foreign customers are very well received by Ecuadorian bamboo incense holders, although the price is higher compared to other preceding producers from other countries, this has not prevented their acquisition, because the trend of Spanish consumers is to prefer products with a greater degree of elaboration; pointing itself towards designs that represent, Native American cultures, nature, stars and other designs; additionally, the European customer is replacing plastic products with any type of wood, due to the classic luxury impression that this material provides, having a double utilitarian function. The Spanish market nowadays has the tendency to acquire hand-made products, the incense holder in Ecuadorian bamboo that is intended to be exported meets the requirements that the client demands, therefore an unmet demand of 1800 units is determined based on the Primary information; amount that can be covered by the López Handicrafts microenterprise. Finally, the obtained data in the Economic Study show that it is viable to carry out this project.
