Abstract
El presente trabajo de titulación se centra en el diseño arquitectónico de un centro dedicado a la medicina ancestral en la parroquia de Ilumán, cantón Otavalo, la misma que se destaca por sus ricas tradiciones culturales y su patrimonio arquitectónico vernáculo. Asimismo, refleja la conexión profunda de la comunidad con sus prácticas ancestrales y su entorno. El centro propuesto no solo servirá como un espacio para la práctica y la promoción de las practicas medicinales ancestrales, sino que también será concebido como un destino turístico que ofrezca experiencias enriquecedoras de turismo místico, que sea auténtico, respetuoso y beneficioso para la comunidad local. Este enfoque integrará la arquitectura tradicional con elementos contemporáneos para crear un ambiente acogedor y funcional que respete y celebre las costumbres locales. El diseño arquitectónico considerará aspectos como las técnicas constructivas locales y la integración armoniosa con el paisaje circundante. En relación a la función se emplea un espacio complementario con hospedaje, restaurante y otras amenidades, que contribuyen a una mejora en la experiencia ritual que se realizará en el centro, que son espacios que se rodean de vegetación debido a la naturaleza de las ceremonias ancestrales. El diseño del centro será guiado por un profundo respeto por la cultura local y un compromiso con la preservación de su identidad única.
The present degree work focuses on the architectural design of a center dedicated to ancestral medicine in the parish of Ilumán, canton Otavalo, a place known for its rich cultural traditions and vernacular architectural heritage. It also reflects the community's deep connection to its ancestral practices and environment. The proposed center will not only serve as a space for the practice and promotion of ancestral medicinal practices but will also be conceived as a tourist destination offering enriching mystical tourism experiences that are authentic, respectful, and beneficial to the local community. This approach will integrate traditional architecture with contemporary elements to create a welcoming and functional environment that respects and celebrates local customs. The architectural design will consider aspects such as local construction techniques and harmonious integration with the surrounding landscape. Regarding functionality, the project will include complementary spaces with lodging, a restaurant, and other amenities that enhance the ritual experience to be held at the center. These spaces will be surrounded by vegetation, in keeping with the nature of ancestral ceremonies. The design of the center will be guided by a profound respect for local culture and a commitment to preserving its unique identity.
