Abstract
Population aging is a global phenomenon that has become a challenge for modern societies. In this context, it is becoming increasingly important to have tools that allow us to evaluate and understand the health status of the older adult population, since, as has been observed, despite the arduous health strategies implemented in this age group, the morbidity rates, disability and dependency continue to increase. General Objective: Describe the health condition of older adults through the evaluation of the areas of comprehensive geriatric assessment at the San Vicente de Paúl Geriatric Center, Atuntaqui during April - August 2024. Methodology: This research is developed within a quantitative, descriptive approach. Data collection was carried out through structured surveys to analyze various areas of geriatric assessment. Results: The results showed that many residents have limitations in mobility and high risk of falls in the physical sphere. In the mental sphere, symptoms of anxiety and depression were identified, highlighting the need for mental health interventions. In addition, a lack of social support networks in the emotional sphere and limited participation in community activities in the social sphere was observed. These findings underscore the need to improve comprehensive interventions to improve the quality of life of older adults. Conclusion: The research has shown the need to reinforce care at the San Vicente de Paul Geriatric Center. The comprehensive assessment has identified critical areas in physical, mental, emotional and social well-being. The socialization of these results with the center staff has been crucial to optimize health services and promote more complete and collaborative geriatric care. These efforts point to a significant improvement in the quality of life of older adults.
