Abstract
El Bosque protector Cascada de Peguche de la ciudad de Otavalo, es un espacio natural que se encuentra en la zona rural del cantón y que ha sido considerado como un destino turístico y cultural, debido a la implicación espiritual que posee con la etnia indígena, esto ha permitido que sea muy atractivo para una gran cantidad de turistas que a través del tiempo han generado un impacto negativo sobre el entorno y medio ambiente del sector, adicionalmente la ausencia de una gestión administrativa y turística, ha permitido que el problema sea más grave. Por lo que en la presente investigación se tuvo como objetivo el desarrollo de una propuesta para la gestión y manejo de visitantes que permitan la sustentabilidad del sector. La metodología utilizada fue descriptiva con un enfoque cualitativo y cuantitativo, la información necesaria se obtuvo a partir de una entrevista al Presidente de la comunidad responsable del cuidado del sector y encuestas a visitantes hallándose como resultados que la mayoría de visitantes son familias, con alta frecuencia de concurrencia, la señalética existente está deteriorada y es insuficiente para guiar hacia un buen comportamiento y uso de la infraestructura. Es necesario gestionar recursos económicos para realizar las mejoras y emitir normativas de comportamiento para los visitantes. Se concluye en la realización de un Manual de gestión turística el cual deberá ser aprobado por la comunidad y ejecutado por la misma.

Therefore, in the present investigation, the purpose was to develop a proposal for the management and management of visitors that allow the sustainability of the sector. The methodology used was descriptive with a qualitative and quantitative approach, the necessary information was obtained from an interview with the President of the community responsible for the care of the sector and surveys of visitors, finding as results that the majority of visitors are families, with high frequency. of concurrence, the existing signage is deteriorated and is insufficient to guide towards a good behavior and use of the infrastructure. It is necessary to manage financial resources to make improvements and issue behavioral regulations for visitors. It concludes in the realization of a Tourism Management Manual which must be approved by the community and executed by it.
