Abstract
The present study establishes the diagnosis of the current mobility equipment in the Cotacachi city, determining its low operating standards and its poor performance with respect to the development of functions in the city, which facilitates the architectural design and diagnosis of the implementation of a new terrestrial terminal in the conurbation of the cantonal capital, mitigating mobility and connectivity problems. For the implementation of the new infrastructure, several diagnoses were made, among which the properties located at the intersection of Gilberto Proaño and República de Cuba streets were determined, a place where the connecting axes converge without affecting mobility in the city and the development and urban growth will not cover this proposal in the short or medium term. Another advantage of its location is that it will allow direct connectivity with the road to Cotacachi, the main connector axis that communicates with the E-35 freeway. The infrastructure is raised with regulations that satisfy up to 50 thousand inhabitants. The ordering principles that govern the design are symmetry, hierarchy and modulation. The design is planned so that the access plaza is integrated with the infrastructure, using the roofs that protrude towards the plaza and the visual permeability generated by the use of translucent façades. The structure is proposed in the steel construction system with beams and metal columns, thinking about the safety and durability of the building, in order to comply with anti-seismic standards that provide total safety to the user; the facades are handled with large aluminum windows that allow great visualization of the services offered by the terminal, as well as making the most of natural light and avoiding high energy consumption, in other words the proposal strongly adheres to avant-garde architectural designs where sustainability standards and climate and environmental intelligence prevail.
