Abstract
The study of the growing sector located in the Pilanquí neighborhood in the city of Ibarra is approached under parameters of universal accessibility and sensory architecture. The problem posed finds its justification in the lack of adequate equipment and public space oriented to visually impaired people. The sector under study is relevant because it is a place with several public parks, but not well connected among them, additionally it is a sector of new developments and with the potential to include the necessary facilities in its vacant lots. Pilanquí arises from an unplanned development of the city with not very inclusive and comfortable spaces for users who have some kind of visual impairment or disability, resulting in the lack of sites with universal accessibility criteria. The main objective of the research is to establish the way in which the sensory experiences of architecture influence spaces and determine their degree of accessibility for the design of architectural equipment so that visually impaired people have a safe and accessible place to enhance their development in society. The work starts with the analysis of the urban and architectural context to determine the level of accessibility of the site and sensory comfort. The analysis has a mixed approach, using instruments such as interviews and information sheets that conclude in levels of autonomy with the consequent identification of the most suitable site for the architectural project. The scope is the development of a project that seeks to contribute to the generation of new inclusive and comfortable spaces for people with visual impairment.
