Abstract
The historic center according to Santamaría (2013), symbolizes the collective memory of the city. Vestiges of urban planning from different periods and architectures of different styles show the living history of the city’s past; That is why they have an educational value and attract the interest of travelers and tourists. But, in addition, the collective image of the city is built on these inherited landscape elements. On the other hand, historic centers contain values of coexistence for all citizens. Its streets and squares are places for strolling and meeting, they are spaces of diversity and functional mix that promote social relations. But currently interest in the intervention of these heritage assets has been lost for various economic and social reasons, which have caused their deterioration. For this reason, the proposal for the degree work arises from that need to rescue and enhance an abandoned heritage building, proposing favorable responses for the building and its context. Then, a tourist network is proposed, made up of the linking and recovery of historical landmarks and important public spaces that the city has, also as a complement to this intervention, the rehabilitation of a heritage property located on Sucre and Grijalva streets is proposed, Likewise, it is part of the aforementioned tourist network, implementing for its new use, an accommodation facility that allows attracting tourism and the rescue of the Historic Center of the city of Ibarra.
