Abstract
Corruption in Ecuador has always been a topic that is heard, read and observed in the headlines that the media present every day in their media agenda. But, 2020 will be recorded as the year where there was more information than ever about the epidemic (COVID-19) and even more about the corruption originated in public procurement in the purchase and sale of medical materials, to solve a crisis scenario. These events have led the media to deal with the information with investigations on their own that make known the different aspects, without losing the journalistic rigor and ratifying the importance of being oriented towards the truth. During the pandemic, the Prosecutor's Office initiated at least 141 investigations related to the health emergency, for this reason, the purpose of this research is to analyze how the media treated the corruption cases that accused as the main protagonists recognized public figures and whose criminal proceedings were analyzed when they were in the first and second stage of the investigation, when there was not yet a sentence that dictates their guilt or innocence. Therefore, the subject of study requires the analysis of three national media that have a digital support such as: El Comercio, El Telégrafo and La Posta.
