Abstract
Se presenta el diseño de un parque ecoturístico que se vincula mediante un corredor temático con el patrimonio edificado de Atuntaqui. El proyecto ubicado en el barrio San José de la parroquia de Atuntaqui, es un proyecto ecológico que busca la relación urbano paisajista entre el patrimonio natural y el edificado del cantón. Según el Instituto Nacional de Estadistica y Censos del Ecuador (INEC, 2010), la ciudad de Atuntaqui cuanta con escasos equipamentos de recreación y áreas verdes. Sencuetran dispersos en toso su territorio y resultan el 6.89 ,2/hab., por debajo del estándar mínimo de 10m2/hab. establecido por la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) para áreas consolidadas. Se tiene déficit de 2.81 m2/hab. en el área urbana del cantón. Por ello se propone crear un parque ecoturístico y de educación ambiental de especies endémicas en un lote de interés municipal en el sector San José en las riveras del Río Ámbi, está pensado para solucionar problemáticas medioambientales, urbanas y de cohesión social para la cabecera cantonal.
