Abstract
The architectural proposal contemplates the creation of a hydrotherapeutic center for the renewal of the body and spirit, through the recovery of two important water sources of Otavalo and several significant spaces for the city, formed by the area where the thermal springs of Yanayaku” are located, the building of the Antigua Facultad de Agronomía de Otavalo” and the small pools of mineral water Las Lagartijas”. The purpose is to propose a proposal that solves the problems of each of these sites in an integral manner. Purification, as an Andean ritual of the context, is reinterpreted in a space conducive to the well-being of the body and spirit through the route between spaces where the water of the Yanayaku springs and Las Lagartijas are the protagonist element for the renovation. Through a set of encounter scenarios that are distributed in a coherent manner; The spaces are located on the basis of computer axes of the Andean Worldview and contemplate the presence of the four elements of nature: water, fire, air and land, so that the architectural composition allows to connect nature and culture. The proposal consists of four stages; In the initial encounter there are no distractors, the walls” appear that create a scenario of intimate encounter with water; the second, where the user is still connected to the water, but now it is also possible to perceive the environment, the curtains walls” are opened; The third stage is completely different from the previous ones, the walls disappear and the renovation process is completed at the highest point of the project, which is reached through a natural forest of the land. Finally, the last stage (same that develops at the level of preliminary project): Pachamanca” (olla de tierra), it is a restaurant where the food is prepared inside the land (typical of the ancestral culture). Following the concept of the whole proposal, different scenarios are created that create different environments giving the sense of mystery to each space. Water, nature and architecture create wellness spaces..
