Abstract
Imbabura declared a Wold Geopark, including geographic areas where its landscapes and sites of relevance are managed throu gh a concept of protection, education and sustainable development. Since their beginning, the first settlements of the Karanki culture generated the need to move to different places to satisfy needs and create habitable spaces. The La Magdalena community was a space destined for settlements in times of the Karanki culture and of the Spanish colonization, on wich a ranch was built that has endured through time as an emblematic one. The historic ranch La Magdalena dates from the 18th century, it was built for an important agricultural and livestock emporium in the Sierra Norte. However, the architectural complex was forgotten in tis initial function as a ranch hous, suffering deterioration due to lack of investment by the management and administration of the place. The Ministry of Tourism of Ecuadoris promoting new tourism projects at the provincial level, the Iniciative Program in wich the Angochagua parish takes the Angochagua Tourism Dynamization Project as an initiative. The parish has heritage buildings as well as cultural and natural attractions, but it is necessary to proposse new projects with a tourist vision where foreign visitors enter Ecuador, most og them arrive in Imbabura at different times of the year, the main interest is the interaction with the community, natural resources, gastronomy and agriculture. With the enhancement of the La Magdalena ranch and being a heritage asset with special characteristics in its form and architectu re, its current character of an agricultural cattle ranch can change to generate a new direction in the life of the community members in the cultural and tourist area. This new undertaking can become the community impulse as it was in the past, linking activities and generating resources to the sector.
