Abstract
El objetivo de este estudio fue elaborar una propuesta de diseño de un temazcal en el sector Tabla Chupa en la zona de Intag, provincia de Imbabura, para promover el turismo de salud. La pregunta de investigación planteada fue si un diagnóstico situacional de los atractivos turísticos de la zona de Intag permitiría conocer la cultura, tradiciones y plantas medicinales existentes en la zona. La metodología utilizada fue mixta, se describieron las características de los temazcales y su impacto en la salud, así como la estructura y la práctica ceremonial. Además, se aplicaron encuestas a una muestra de la población, y los resultados se tabularon y presentaron en tablas y gráficos estadísticos. Los resultados del estudio revelaron que la zona de Intag posee un valioso patrimonio cultural, arraigadas tradiciones y una amplia diversidad de plantas medicinales, que pueden ser aprovechados como atractivos turísticos importantes. La riqueza cultural y natural de Intag brinda una oportunidad única para atraer a turistas interesados en experimentar la cultura local y beneficiarse de las propiedades curativas de las plantas medicinales. El perfil del turista interesado en el turismo de salud en Intag se caracteriza principalmente por ser adultos jóvenes, tanto nacionales como extranjeros, que buscan nuevas experiencias, aventura, ocio y recreación. Los turistas reconocen la importancia de aprovechar los recursos naturales de la región y valoran los temazcales como una opción para cuidar su salud y bienestar, especialmente después de la pandemia. Esta tendencia ofrece oportunidades para el desarrollo económico sostenible en la zona, promoviendo la salud de las personas y contribuyendo al crecimiento socioeconómico local. Además, se demostró la factibilidad de implementar el temazcal en, con un valor actual neto (VAN) de 31.086,35 y una inversión de 70.378,35.
The objective of this study was to develop a design proposal for a temazcal in the Tabla Chupa location in the Intag area, Imbabura province, to promote health tourism. The research question posed was whether a situational diagnosis of the tourist attractions in the Intag area would allow knowing the culture, traditions and medicinal plants existing in the area. The methodology used was mixed, the characteristics of the temazcales and their impact on health were described, as well as the structure and ceremonial practice. In addition, surveys will be applied to a sample of the population, and the results will be tabulated and presented in statistical tables and graphs. The results of the study revealed that the Intag area has a valuable cultural heritage, deep-rooted traditions and a wide diversity of medicinal plants, which can be used as important tourist attractions. Intag's cultural and natural wealth provides a unique opportunity to attract those interested in experiencing local culture and taking advantage of the healing properties of medicinal plants. The profile of the tourist interested in health tourism in Intag is characterized mainly by being young adults, both national and foreign, seeking new experiences, adventure, leisure and recreation. Tourists recognize the importance of taking advantage of the region's natural resources and value temazcales as an option to take care of their health and well-being, especially after the pandemic. This trend offers opportunities for sustainable economic development in the area, promoting people's health and contributing to local socioeconomic growth. In addition, the feasibility of implementing the temazcal will be broken, with a net present value (VAN) of 31,086.35 and an investment of 70,378.35.
