Abstract
The present research aims to propose the implementation of interpretative techniques in the Rafael Troya Hall of the El Cuartel Cultural Center, located in the city of Ibarra, Imbabura province. This proposal seeks to enhance the visitor experience through interpretative strategies that facilitate the understanding and appreciation of the work of Ecuadorian artist Rafael Troya, whose pictorial legacy is a key reference in the history of national art. To achieve this, the research is structured around three fundamental axes: the life and career of Rafael Troya, analyzing his biography, artistic training, and influences; the analysis of his pictorial work, highlighting the techniques, themes, and visual style that characterize his artistic production; and the cultural and historical impact of his legacy, emphasizing his contribution to the evolution of Ecuadorian art and his relevance within cultural heritage. The methodology employed in this study is based on a qualitative approach, including bibliographic review, documentary analysis, and field observation, allowing for a deeper understanding of the need to implement interpretative strategies in the cultural center. Reference cases from national and international museums and cultural centers that have successfully applied interpretative techniques are examined to adapt those best suited to the reality of the El Cuartel Cultural Center. As a result, a series of innovative interpretative strategies are proposed, including informational panels, interactive guides, cultural mediation, and the use of technological resources to enhance the visitor experience and foster interest in Rafael Troya's work. The research concludes that the implementation of these techniques will significantly contribute to the appreciation of Ecuadorian art, strengthen cultural identity, and establish the El Cuartel Cultural Center as a benchmark in heritage interpretation and management.
