Abstract
The Imbabura volcano known as Taita Imbabura is located 14 km south of the city of Ibarra, with a maximum height of 4621 meters above sea level. The main path of the attraction located in Cashaloma has certain shortcomings; it’s signaling is incomplete; It provides little information about the attraction and does not have any type of modification to facilitate access to visitors. This research seeks the reactivation of the Imbabura volcano through a model of tourist signage in the Cashaloma sector, Angochagua parish. The reactivation of the trail is necessary as it can increase the safety of visitors and in turn display the elements of the attraction in an educational way and can also benefit the nearby communities. The objective of this study is to improve the visitor's experience on the trail, through an appropriate tourist signage model, to promote good conservation practices. The research is of a basic type with a mixed approach since surveys, interviews and field observation were carried out; the inductive, deductive, analytical and synthetic methods were used; For the sample, people who have visited the Imbabura volcano were taken into account through a non-probabilistic sampling for convenience. Within the results, the points of the path where changes can be made, such as railings or steps, were identified; the identification of the route and its respective signage; the inclination on the part of tourists to carry out a mixed path and the reasons why it has not been possible to improve the path due to economic difficulties of the municipality. It is concluded that adequate signage gives new opportunities to the attraction since it will be more accessible and the risks of possible accidents can be reduced; Visitors will be able to learn about data of interest such as flora, fauna, geography, local culture.
