Abstract
Otavalo se ha convertido en una ventana cultural y turística muy importante en el mundo,
ya que mediante la elaboración de artesanías han dado a conocer a propios y extraños su
vivencialidad y cultura, mismos que han permanecido intactos e ineludibles en el tiempo.
La importancia de crear una propuesta espacial enfocada en procesos de salvaguardar
la actividad textil artesanal otavaleña, es la de revalorizar esta capacidad creativa que
ha sido heredada generación tras generación, donde esta actividad socio- cultural sea
el núcleo de integración y relación social, intelectual como afectiva (tradicional). La idea
es proteger los saberes en la elaboración textil artesanal con factores de innovación y
reinterpretación, sin perder su esencia y lenguaje de identidad, sustentado en una
educación práctica en base a la cuatripartición de saberes.
La propuesta, es diseñar un equipamiento en cuyo espacio se programe desde las
acciones de la reinterpretación espacial, formal y material, un conjunto de zonas en
las cuales se fomentarán la Investigación- Experimentación- Elaboración- Difusión de la
elaboración de la artesanía textil de Otavalo, con la finalidad salvaguardar su difusión a
través del tiempo.
