Abstract
El objetivo de esta investigación fue analizar, desde la perspectiva jurídica y política, la denominada democracia directa en Ecuador y Venezuela, que pretendió sustituir a la democracia representativa en ambos países; por lo que este trabajo se apoyó en el método comparado y centró su interés en el período 2015-2018. Ahora bien, ¿hasta qué punto este proyecto político significó el debilitamiento de la democracia representativa de esos países? En efecto, su implementación en ambos países ocasionó tanto un déficit democrático, como un debilitamiento el Estado de Derecho. Actualmente, mientras Ecuador está en proceso de transición y alejamiento de este proyecto político, Venezuela se mantiene, con las consecuencias sociales políticas y económicas evidentes y notarias. Este trabajo documental es importante porque, de alguna manera, advierte de los peligros que corre la democracia real y funcional en Latinoamérica.
The objective of this research was to analyze, from the legal and political perspective, the so-called direct democracy in Ecuador and Venezuela, which sought to replace representative democracy in both countries; Therefore, this work relied on the comparative method and focused its interest in the 2015-2018 period. Now, to what extent did this political project mean the weakening of the representative democracy of those countries? Indeed, its implementation in both countries caused both a democratic deficit and a weakening of the rule of law. Currently, while Ecuador is in the process of transitioning and moving away from this political project, Venezuela remains, with the evident and notorious political and economic social consequences. This documentary work is important because, in some way, it warns of the dangers of real and functional democracy in Latin America.
