Abstract
Lichens are bioindicators of air pollution and the various mechanisms that allow them to absorb water and different nutrients from the atmosphere that are mixed with various pollutants. The application of bionics to perceive air pollution has several benefits such as easy application, rapid results and because they are relatively long organisms they can remain affected to different pollutants for long periods that facilitate obtaining cumulative, complete and differentiated information thanks to its ability to respond to environmental disturbances. Through this research, it was intended to create protocols for the management and use of lichens as bioindicators to detect air pollution, to obtain rapid results and the possibility of providing cumulative, integrated and discriminated information thanks to their ability to respond to alterations in the medium, from the presence - absence of lichens in the trees of each of the study areas, this allows us to suggest new alternatives for air quality monitoring with lower costs and easy interpretation.
