Abstract
The present study was carried out in the Apuela Rural Parish (Intag), which is a very striking region due to its beautiful landscapes, fauna and flora; However, one of the most emblematic species in the area is the Andean Bear (Tremarctos ornatus), which has a predatory behavior that has affected livestock and the economic interests of farmers in the area, who choose to hunt the species, thereby causing a people - bear conflict. In Apuela there is research on this interaction, in which they focused on the spatial characterization of the conflict and management of productive systems, however, there is no information on the relationship of ecological dynamics, with socioeconomic realities, much less conservation strategies that involve educational, conservation and sustainable management aspects of productive systems. This research analyzed spatial, economic and social variables associated with sectors with the presence of the Andean bear, through landscape tools and a semi-structured survey, this with the objective of integrally analyzing this information through the Vester matrix, where it was obtained that the predation of cattle is the main problem of the conflict, while the main causes are the extensive cattle raising, the economic losses and the erroneous knowledge towards the bear. For the validation of the strategies that minimize the conflict, a participatory workshop was held with those affected, residents of the communities of Apuela, authorities of the Parish GAD, Provincial Government of Imbabura and PUCESI, establishing eight prioritized actions focused on the conservation of the Andean bear promoting Livestock and Sustainable Agriculture.
