    Formación en la prevención del abuso sexual de niñas, niños y adolescentes

    Desde el 2016, la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador (PUCE) junto con la Universidad Gregoriana de Roma, propone el “Programa On-line de Prevención del Abuso Sexual de niñas, niños y jóvenes”, dirigido a profesionales que trabajen en el campo de lo social. Es en base a este programa que, desde la PUCE surge el Proyecto de Investigación “Prevención de Abuso Sexual de Niños y Jóvenes”. El objetivo central de la investigación gira alrededor de la empatía, como un factor preventivo como agente de sensibilización y concientización de los profesionales. La investigación fue trabajada desde un eje mixto: lo cuantitativo y lo cualitativo. En lo cuantitativo se utilizó la escala de Davis (IRD, 1980) por la estructura del cuestionario que mide tanto el factor cognitivo como el emocional. En lo cualitativo se utilizó observación participante, grupos focales y entrevistas individuales. La muestra se determinó mediante el número de participantes de cada curso de formación que se realiza (240 participantes). Para lo análisis de datos se utilizó la transcripción, la categorización y el análisis de resultados. Para la escala de Davis, la confiabilidad del test original y de la muestra obtenida se verificó con el coeficiente de Pearson y la metodología del análisis factorial exploratorio y confirmatorio. Los resultados, tanto del eje cualitativo como cuantitativo, confirman la pregunta de investigación en el sentido de que el Programa On-line evidencia una mejora de la empatía en los participantes, sintiéndose éstos últimos más preparados para hacer un acompañamiento de casos de abuso sexual.

    Learning in the technological transition process of a MOOC of social interest

    This study presents an interdisciplinary experience between Information and Communication Technologies, Psychology and Education, with a MOOC aimed at preventing sexual abuse of children and adolescents. The results show the importance of a formative work between the virtual and the faceto- face allowing for a closer support to the participants and providing positive results of the process. Through surveys and interviews with tutors and participants, the place of two key elements influencing in the process is pointed out: the development, use and impact of various digital platforms throughout the work and the place of tutors and their role in the virtual-face-to-face dynamics. As results, it is shown, on the one hand, that after using several virtual platforms it is N-Moodle that ends-up being relevant for these cases and, on the other hand, that the inclusion of the virtual-face-to-face element in the process of learning, allows for an active participation of the students and for a reduction on the dropout rate of the course. What has been learned in this technological transition process, is fundamentally qualitative because of the ease of access, clarity of the platform and improvements made in order to offer the participants with an agile and logical course.

    MOOCs and Empathy as core tools for preparing professionals in charge of sexual abuse prevention

    This study presents an interdisciplinary experience between the fields of Information and Communication Technologies for Education and Psychology, by ways of a MOOC aimed at preventing sexual abuse of children and adolescents. The study builds on previous research and validates both, the influence of empathy on professionals in the field of prevention, and how it can be improved by means of adequate training. The objectives were reached thanks to an online training program carried out in several cohorts for six years. The role of dispositional empathy was evaluated with personal interviews, focus groups, participant observation and specifically designed polls. The results were statistically correlated and contrasted considering how social events may influence the perception of participants. The results validate not only the methodology, but also the importance of training on empathy for the professionals in the area.
