Item Open Access Análisis multitemporal de la tenencia de tierra en áreas de interacción con el oso andino (Tremarctos ornatus), parroquia Plaza Gutiérrez-cantón Cotacachi(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador Sede Ibarra, 2021-12) Andrade Yacelga, Byron AlonsoThe Andean bear (Tremarctos ornatus) is the only species in the Ursidae family, endemic to the Tropical Andes. The same that is being threatened due to the anthropic activities implemented in its territory, in this way cataloging it in danger of extinction at the level of Ecuador, since its populations have been reduced in the last generation. In the province of Imbabura, there have been attacks on cattle and mainly damage to corn crops by the Andean bear, generating a complex conflict interaction with the inhabitants of this province. The objective of this study was to carry out a multi-temporal analysis of land tenure in areas of interaction with the Andean bear (Tremarctos ornatus), Parroquia Plaza Gutiérrez - Cantón Cotacachi, which was carried out in three phases: First phase: Evaluation of the human being - Andean bear conflict, with the application of a survey to 11 inhabitants and the preparation of a zoning map of the conflict, in which it was determined that 45% are in favor of carrying out conservation actions of this species, However, 36% of those affected consider the Andean bear as harmful, due to the economic losses it has generated. Second phase: Multitemporal analysis of change and land use of the years 2014 and 2020, where an increase of 82.79% of the area of arboreal vegetation was evidenced. The cultivated area has been reduced by 0.45% and the cultivated pasture has been reduced by 10.64%. Against the total area of the entire area of interaction with the Andean bear. Third phase: Implementation of preventive measures, was developed with the participation of key actors, in which four strategies were prioritized, being necessary the implementation of appropriate conservation actions for the area, which correspond to training in environmental issues and dissuasive measures and preventive measures, intensive livestock production systems, sustainable productive incentives and continue monitoring the Andean bear.
