Abstract
The present research aims to improve the dissemination of tourist attractions in the Historical Center of Ibarra by applying augmented reality models through the use of applications, maps, and QR codes for their promotion. The study used the non-experimental descriptive method, deductive method, and analytical method. It was found that the tourist attractions in the area do not have the best promotion and lack diffusion projects by government entities, and the traditional format of tourist promotion is not the most suitable for young people who want to experience technology-related experiences. It was determined that Blender, Unity, and Android Studio software are the most appropriate technological tools to generate augmented reality models. Additionally, it was identified that the correct segment to apply AR methods are local visitors, aged between 21-30 years, who stay for 1 day, once a year, motivated by leisure and recreation, who use smartphones, know AR, and want to do tourism through technology. Then, the tourist attractions of the Historical Center of Ibarra that have suitable conditions to be replicated with AR were selected. It is concluded that innovation in the promotion of tourist attractions through the application of tourism innovation strategies using new technologies such as augmented reality models can generate significant improvements in the dissemination of tourist attractions and in expanding the tourism potential of the studied area. This information is important to be taken into consideration by those responsible for the tourism sector in the area and to achieve significant long-term changes. Ending with the proposal, a Map of the Historical Center of Ibarra with Augmented Reality models.
