Abstract
El estado de salud en la población adulta mayor es un factor que refleja todos los padecimientos comunes en las diferentes esferas como son clínica, funcional, mental y social que en varias ocasiones poseer un conocimiento a tiempo de este aspecto puede prevenir posibles complicaciones a futuro. La valoración geriátrica integral es un instrumento de gran ayuda en la identificación de las necesidades que tiene este grupo etario como es el caso del grupo de adultos mayores del centro gerontológico San Juan Pablo II a los cuales se aplicó las escalas para conocer en qué estado de salud se encontraban. El presente estudio tiene como objetivo general describir el estado de salud de las personas adultas mayores a través de la medición de las cuatro esferas de la valoración geriátrica integral. Presenta una metodología descriptiva con enfoque cuantitativo, no experimental y de campo conformada por una muestra no probabilística de 70 adultos mayores de 65 a 95 años de edad, los mismo que fueron sometidos a criterio de inclusión, exclusión y eliminación quedando una muestra de 60 adultos mayores a los cuales se les aplicó la ficha KICA clínica, SARCO-GS, escala de incapacidad física de la Cruz Roja, KICA-COG, Yesavage y la escala de valoración sociofamiliar de Gijón. Esta población estudiada arroja datos importantes en cada esfera aplicada donde refleja que su estado de salud en la gran mayoría es satisfactorio y que los resultados arrojados ayudaran a nuevas investigaciones como una base sólida de antecedentes.
