Item Open Access Evaluación de soluciones nutritivas y sustratos en el rendimiento de fresa variedad monterrey (fragaria x ananassa duch.) cultivada en un sistema hidropónico vertical(PUCE Ibarra, 2023-04) Ibadango Ruiz, Félix Daniel; Cartagena Ayala, Yamil EveraldoThe present study was conducted in the canton Antonio Ante, parish Atuntaqui, northern Ecuador, with the purpose of evaluating nutrient solutions and substrates on the yield of strawberry variety Monterrey (Fragaria x ananassa Duch.) grown in a vertical hydroponic system. The specific objectives were: to determine the best nutrient solution to increase productivity, to evaluate three types of substrates for production, and to evaluate the benefit/cost ratio in the application of nutrient solutions and substrate mixtures in strawberry. The trial had nine treatments and four replications; the experimental area was 48 m2. The variables evaluated were: percent stand and plants at harvest; number of stolons; number of fruits per plant; fruit equatorial diameter; yield; aerial biomass; water use efficiency; soluble solids or Brix degrees; economic analysis. The information was processed in a split-plot design (DPD), if the parameters of normality and homoscedasticity were met, otherwise Kruskal-Wallis was applied. The best nutrient solution to increase strawberry productivity was the S2 solution (N: 100, P: 90, K: 250, Ca: 60, Mg: 30 and S: 20); at the same time, the M2 substrate (rice husk 10%, coconut fiber 80% and pomina 10%) stands out. However, the best treatment was S2M2 (N: 100, P: 90, K: 250, Ca: 60, Mg: 30 and S: 20; rice husk 10%, coconut fiber 80% and pomina 10%), where for each dollar invested there is a net benefit of 3.75 US dollars.
