Abstract
Ecuador is a constitutional state of law in which all individuals and communities have the right to safe and permanent access to healthy and nutritious food. This mandate of the Constitution of the Republic is further developed by the Organic Law of Food Sovereignty, which establishes the fundamental principles to guarantee food security and regulate the distribution of surplus food, promoting its efficient utilization and the reduction of waste. Within this framework, the Banco de Alimentos de Ibarra plays a crucial role, serving as the institution where this research was conducted. The objective of this study was to design a web-based system to optimize the management of food donation, classification, and distribution for this organization. By implementing this system, these processes would no longer be conducted manually, improving food traceability and institutional efficiency. The proposed system enables real-time donation registration, automated food classification, and streamlined allocation to beneficiaries. Additionally, it incorporates tools for generating reports, facilitating data-driven decision-making within the organization. The system was developed using the Scrum methodology, allowing for an agile and adaptive development process. Furthermore, the client-server architecture ensures a clear separation between the frontend and backend, with a relational database guaranteeing data integrity. Regarding the results achieved, the implementation of the system significantly improved efficiency in the registration of the organization’s core processes. Finally, this research highlights the importance of digitalization in food resource management, enabling efficient and equitable administration of donations, with a positive impact on beneficiary communities.
