This research focuses on the study of gender as a consequence of a high or low level in university performance with respect to ESOL at the Catholic University of Ecuador in Esmeraldas. After the compilation of a learner corpus from sample texts which were compiled through Google forms, linguistic analysis was carried out by means of the application of quantitative and qualitative methods in order to obtain a systematic summary of errors in the learner.s corpus while taking several parameters into account, such as age, years of training and, especially, gender. Statistical data were collected with AntConc and, by means of a comparison of the results obtained, it revealed that errors were more prevalent in male students than on female at the time of composing general domain texts in English.
