En este trabajo de investigación se parte de la identificación del problema y el objetivo central de “Evaluar el estado actual de eutrofización y su afectación en las aguas de la laguna de Yahuarcocha” para llegar a determinar las zonas más afectadas por la eutrofización, por la contaminación de nutrientes o la presencia de pigmentos fotosintéticos en los cuerpos de agua dulce. Para la investigación se utilizó el método de muestreo aleatorio estratificado para abarcar una mayor cobertura de la laguna; con el uso de dispositivos, se tomaron las muestras en distintos estratos y se analizaron parámetros como: turbidez, fosfatos, nitratos, amonio, oxígeno disuelto, color, clorofila, entre otros. Las conclusiones dieron a conocer que el estado actual de las aguas de la laguna de Yahuarcocha, se encuentran en estado Eutrófico, según los resultados obtenidos por el Índice de Estado trófico (IET); el índice se determinó por los valores elevados de la concentración de clorofila a fosfatos y la profundidad del espejo de agua que indica el disco Secchi.The Yahuarcocha lagoon intuits an ecosystem of great ecological, economic and tourist category in Ecuador.This research work starts from the identification of the problem and the central objective of To evaluate the current state of eutrophication and its impact on the waters of the Yahuarcocha lagoon to determine the areas most affected by eutrophication, due to nutrient contamination or the presence of chlorophyll pigments in freshwater bodies.
