| dc.description.abstract | En la comunidad de Turucucho del cantón Cayambe y en la parroquia de Quichinche del cantón Otavalo se evaluó el estado ecológico del escarabajo blanco (Platycoelia lutescens) con la finalidad de establecer el cambio poblacional de la especie y sus factores que influyen sobre el mismo. Se realizaron 53 encuestas para la comunidad de Turucucho y 90 para la parroquia de Quichinche para evaluar el estado ecológico de la especie en estudio, así como un análisis multitemporal de uso de suelo de los años 2000 y 2023, obteniendo como resultado que si existe un cambio notorio en cuanto a la abundancia según la percepción de los encuestados con 70% en Turucucho y 56% en Quichinche, también se identificó que las cantidades de recolección disminuyeron en comparación a años anteriores con una recolección de 150 a 3000 escarabajos y en la actualidad de 150 a 600 escarabajos en Quichinche, se pudo determinar un dato relevante dentro de esta investigación teniendo que en la comunidad de Turucucho los habitantes recolectan a los escarabajos en el mes de enero. Con el análisis multitemporal se obtuvo que existe un crecimiento de área urbana y uso de suelo agrícola que afecta directamente en la pérdida del hábitat de la especie. Con esto se estableció dos estrategias de conservación y manejo orientadas a la protección del escarabajo en su estado silvestre y conservando el conocimiento cultural y ancestral de los pueblos indígenas que los han incluido a la dieta a lo largo de los años, generando una fuente de ingreso y un posible emprendimiento con el establecimiento de criaderos. | |
