dc.description.abstractEl llamado de la UNESCO para que las universidades promuevan la investigación científica a un lugar destacado dentro de sus funciones ha sido tema constante de las conferencias de esta institución a nivel global (1998 y 2009) y regional de América Latina (1996 y 2008). El señalamiento de que las instituciones de educación superior deben proceder a introducir los cambios necesarios en las herramientas para la gestión de esta actividad y así proyectar su organización y desarrollo a la solución de problemas del contexto social e institucional, debe ser un principio de actuación de nuestras universidades en el entorno latinoamericano y específicamente ecuatoriano. Así se reconoce en el presente trabajo y se exponen algunos criterios a seguir para cumplir con tal propósito. Estos criterios parten de la valoración teórica sobre los aportes presentes en los modelos históricos y conceptuales sobre la relación universidad – investigación/innovación
dc.description.abstractUNESCO's call for universities to promote scientific research to a prominent place within its functions has been a constant theme of the conferences of this institution at the global (1998 and 2009) and regional level of Latin America (1996 and 2008). The indication that higher education institutions should introduce the necessary changes in the tools for the management of this activity and thus project their organization and development to the solution of problems of the social and institutional context must be a principle of action for universities in Latin American and specifically Ecuador. This is recognized in the present paper and some criteria to be followed are presented to fulfill this purpose. Criteria are based on the theoretical assessment of the contributions made in the historical and conceptual models of the university - research / innovation society relationship.en_US
